The 2024 MAACME Annual Conference

The MAACME Annual Conference is designed to meet the educational needs of CME/CPD professionals working in a variety of settings, including academic centers, specialty societies, medical education companies, hospitals and health care systems, and medical writing.

New This Year: The Annual Conference will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday (in the past it was held on Wednesday and Thursday)

The Annual Conference promises to be an exciting event spanning two full days. On Tuesday, November 12, the schedule features sessions on the ACCME update, Joint Accreditation, Table Sessions, a DEI Panel, and Fast and Furious, ending with MAACME's cocktail reception from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. On Wednesday, November 13, the agenda will include educational workshops such as Commendation Case Studies Panel, a Mock Survey, and sessions on Innovative Formats and Outcomes, concluding at 3:00 PM.

This session provides a hands-on introduction to the ACCME Innovation Toolkit, which builds on proven methodologies for systematic innovation to offer a flexible framework for needs finding and continuous improvement in the design and delivery of novel education activities. Presenters will supply a practical overview in the form of a case study from the University of Pennsylvania. Then participants will collaboratively practice the framework by analyzing relevant opportunities in their work environments.

Commendation is within reach for most providers, but the whole idea can be intimidating. Noreen and Liz will relate their experience in achieving commendation, share insights they’ve gained through involvement with the ACCME, and provide some tips that may surprise and even delight you. You are probably already meeting many of the criteria and you should get the credit you deserve!

Through a mock survey format, you will learn applicable tips and tricks to the reaccreditation process including how much detail to provide in your self-study and Performance in Practice abstracts, who to include (and who NOT to) in your interview, as well as ways to mitigate some of the stress you feel during the process.

Re-Thinking Outcomes in CE: Measuring What Matters

Outcomes planning, data collection, analysis, and reporting doesn't have to be overwhelming, but it does need to be grounded. This session will explore the often convoluted and confusing science of assessment and evaluation in continuing education with a goal of simplifying the core principles for measuring educational impact. Leave your calculators and spreadsheets at home, but bring your thinking caps!
